Common questions & answers for professional counselling
The ground work can be very time consuming in finding the right counsellor for you, it is very important for you to feel comfortable with your counsellor from the very first meeting.
exploring U counselling have put together some of the most common questions asked, we hope we have answered these for you. If you still find that you need to ask more questions, please call us during office hours, we will be more than happy to answer your questions
Most therapy lasts for 50 minutes, exploring U counselling sessions last for 60 minutes.
Who will I be speaking to when I make my first phone call?
Your first port of call is Glenda Roberts(MBACP) (AIP) she will take your initial enquiry
What happens after the initial phone call to exploring U counselling?
We will invite you to have a one hour confidential consultation with one of our professional counsellors .
How much is an individual consultation?
For an individual consultation we charge between £35 and £40 for 60 minutes
Will I have an assessment and how much do you charge?
Please note that all sessions with Glenda Roberts (MBACP) are £40 per session. After the consultation, you will be invited back to have an assessment which will last for one hour, the charge for the assessment with one of our counsellors' is charged at £35.
Can I have short-term work or long-term work?
You can have minimum of 6 sessions or longer term work if required.
If I need to cancel my session/s how much notice do I need to give?
We require 24 hours notice to change or cancel appointments If the correct notice has not been given then you will be liable to pay for your sessions missed.
How do I pay for my sessions?
We accept cash, invoice or cheque.
How much do single sessions cost?
One hour sessions start from a sliding scale of £35 to £50. Concession rates available upon request.
Can I have longer counselling sessions?
By prior agreement with your counsellor, we can offer you one, one and a half or a two hour session.
If I stop my sessions, can I restart them again?
Yes you will be able to restart your sessions again, but please bare in mind that we may not alway be able to accomodate this straight away, this is governed by the availability of the counsellor.
How do I/we know that all your counsellors are qualified?
All our counsellors' have been checked through exploring U counselling Ltd, no counsellor will be able to work with you until evidence of qualifications, insurance, supervision details and BACP membership is in order and up to date.
If we are an organisation can we invoice you on a monthly basis?
Yes, we usually send our invoices out on the 28th of each month, and ask that you send your remittance by cheque no later than 3 weeks of the date of invoice.
